Wilson praises Tom James

19th September 2016

Tom James has been hailed by Danny Wilson following his red-hot start to the season.

The wing has scored three tries so far this campaign, including his brace against Munster and was named Guinness PRO12 man-of-the-match after Friday’s victory over Glasgow Warriors.

While he did not score against the Scots, James was a handful on every occasion he received the ball and gave Cardiff Blues much needed momentum at key moments.

Speaking following the 23-19 victory, Wilson said: “He’s superb at the moment and as you some he is a very powerful attacking player. He can defend well and also does the nuts and bolts required of his position.

“His last two performances have been great. Against Munster, to do what he did and then back it up with a similar performance just shows the rich vein of form he is in.

“I’ve always highly rated Tom and I was over the moon to find out he was signed up from Exeter when I signed.”

Wilson was also keen to praise Alex Cuthbert, who scored the opening try before being taken off with a tight groin, and his replacement Blaine Scully.

The Cardiff Blues head coach added: “I also have to mention Alex Cuthbert who was playing really well and scored a great try. He deserves more than the luck he is getting because he is putting in a lot of work and had a very big pre-season.

“Up until coming off he was going well, he took his try really well and his work-rate off the ball, chasing kicks, putting pressure on and winning kick-backs.

“It’s great to have two wings in form and then also to be able to bring on Blaine Scully when we needed to. His high hand skills and aerial work is outstanding.”

Cardiff Blues take on Zebre next, before returning to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on October 1, to face Leinster. Tickets are available now and you can get yours today by clicking here.
