Wilson pleased by recent attacking shape

11th April 2016

Head Coach Danny Wilson has spoken about his delight over the attacking shape of his Cardiff Blues this season - with the team riding high at the top of the points scoring charts.

Cardiff Blues are currently the leading try scorers in the Guinness PRO12 with 54 scores – three ahead of nearest rivals Glasgow Warriors.

Wilson’s men have scored the most points this season with 466 in the league – averaging just under 25 points a game.

Rhys Patchell is also the leading point scorer in the competition with 174 points – 22 ahead of nearest rival Sam Davies form the Ospreys.

And Wilson admits his team have bought into the attacking philosophy whilst also finding a defensive steel in recent months.

“We play a certain shape that gives us a number of attacking options and structure,” he said.

“That shape is working well for us, but credit to the players who are making the right decisions at the right time in that shape to cause other teams problems.

“We scored some great tries away at Scarlets. It’s great that we can do it at home on our playing surface, but we’ve now proved we can do it away from home against good opposition too.”
