Williams ruled out of Wales summer tour

24th May 2017

Rhun Williams has been ruled out of Wales' summer tour to the Pacific Islands, following an ankle injury sustained in last week's fixture against Stade Francais.

Uncapped Williams, who made 13 appearances during his debut season at Cardiff Blues, was taken off after five minutes at the Stade Jean Bouin.

Ospreys forward James King has also been ruled out of the tour.

Exeter Chiefs full back Phil Dollman and Scarlets forward Aaron Shingler have been called up as replacements.

Wales head coach, Robin McBryde, said: "You have to account for injuries in this game - especially at this stage of the season - so we're not shocked when these things happen.

"It's a big blow for the players who are missing out, but for someone like Rhun, who's only 19 years old, he's got plenty of time to make his mark with Wales."

Williams' withdrawal sees eight Cardiff Blues players remaining in the squad.
