Tomos Williams is confident Cardiff Blues are on the right tracks, but insists they must improve their discipline following Friday's loss against Munster.
The 22-times capped international crossed for a brace of tries at Thomond Park but his side ultimately fell to a narrow defeat against the Irish province.
The scrum half was full of compliments for his team-mates' work in the build up to his two tries, but was ultimately disappointed that his side fell at the final hurdle.
"It was a pretty disappointed changing room, especially after we had a couple of chances to win at the end," said the 26 year old.
"We did some good things out there but still have quite a bit to work on. Overall we can be happy with the performance, but just need that extra bit to finish games off.
"It was the story of the season in terms of discipline and how it’s let us down a lot. So if we can sort those things out then it will help a lot in the process of getting where we need to be as a team.
"There’s still room for improvement because we come out to places like Munster wanting to win. But there was some good to take out of that game.
"In terms of my tries, I was more happy with the build up play and the work of the boys, both inside and outside.
"For me it was just about running it in. All the other boys had done the hard work around me."
The Welsh international star penned a new deal to extend his stay in the capital on Tuesday and is excited for the months ahead for both club and country.
"I’m happy to have signed this week. I’m glad it’s done now and I’m looking forward to the next couple of seasons," said Williams.
"Fingers crossed I’ll get selected for Wales, for starters, and I want to enjoy my rugby over the summer and look forward to pre-season then."
