There's plenty of character in this squad - Morgan

Matthew Morgan says there’s plenty of character in the Cardiff Blues squad, as he capped his 100th appearance for the club with a try-scoring display in Friday’s win over Scarlets.

Jarrod Evans delayed pass in midfield paved the way for ‘Nipper’ to score his 18th try in Cardiff Blues colours, proving decisive as the visitors secured a 13-10 victory.

The full back, who arrived at Cardiff Arms Park from Bristol in 2016, was pleased to cap off his latest milestone with a try and has been encouraged by his side’s performances over the last couple of weeks.

“The boys dug in deep at the end and it shows that there is a lot of character in this team,” said the five-times capped Welsh international.

“It’s obviously nice to do the double over Scarlets and it makes the result even better.

“We’ve changed our mindset over the last couple of weeks, which suits a bit more. It gives us the freedom to have a crack and that suits us down to the ground and we’ll back ourselves.

“Hopefully we can take it game by game now, keep picking up the wins and see where we are in a few weeks.

“I’m over the moon. There’s been a lot of hard work put in over the years, with a lot of ups-and-downs.

“But it’s nice to get to the 100th and most of all getting the win.

“It’s about time that I scored a try. I want to kick on from here now and get as many as I can.”

Morgan was also full of praise for outside half Evans, with the playmaker recalled into the Wales squad for the Guinness Six Nations after his fine form for Cardiff in recent weeks.

The full back added: “He’s class, he’s awesome. I love playing with him and I love training with him.

“He’s shown his qualities over the last couple of weeks and hopefully he can have a good crack at the Six Nations and show how good he is.”
