Skipper Jenkins striving for important win

30th November 2015

Captain Gethin Jenkins insists Cardiff Blues will continue to leave no stone unturned as they look for a return to winning ways in the Guinness PRO12.

Jenkins was a key performer and defensive lynchpin as Cardiff Blues narrowly lost out in horrendous weather conditions to the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium.

The Wales international admits the difficult start to the season has been hard to stomach, but revealed the team were working as hard as ever to get a win on the board.

“Nobody wants to get a win more than us. We’ve had a difficult start to the season but we are all working extremely hard to put that right and we go again against Connacht,” he said.

“The weather played a big part in the derby game, but I have been on the end of a few bad results down at the Liberty Stadium so we look to the positives about the way we played.

“We are all disappointed to lose the game, we are not getting away from that, but we are encouraged by the manner of the performance and the way we’ve moved forward as a team.

“It was physical up front against Ospreys and we knew each other’s games really well. There are a lot of boys who have played international rugby together.

“But I felt we matched them for quite a bit of the game and just a few decisions went against us towards the end, we have got to be more ruthless in the contact area to stop that happening.”
