Scarlets v Blues Match Preview

16th March 2005

This game is a real European Cup showdown as a loss for Cardiff Blues would almost extinguish any hopes of an automatic qualification for the Heineken Cup next season – with only the playoff route still open.

The Llanelli Scarlets have won back to back matches against Munster and Connacht and have not strung together three successive wins in the Celtic League since the end of last season. The Scarlets have won their last five home games in the competition since Connacht beat them 21-29 in October.

Cardiff Blues have won three of their past four matches in all competitions, and will be looking for a repeat of the away victory at Connacht on 22 January.

The Scarlets won both encounters with the Blues in season 2003/04, but the Blues exacted some revenge with a 14-10 win at the Arms Park on 7 November.
