Rush is Supporter's Player of the Season

Xavier Rush has been voted the Cardiff Blues Player of the Season.

In his first season with Cardiff Blues, the 28-year-old Number 8 was chosen ahead of Mike Phillips who also joined the team last summer.

Members of the Supporters' Club have been submitting their votes for Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year and the votes were counted at the AGM.

Player of the Year
Winner: Xavier Rush
Runner Up: Mike Phillips

Xavier played 18 times for the Blues, scoring 3 tries in numerous barn-storming performances. Rush was then picked in the World XV and Barbarians squads, playing against South Africa and England respectively in June alongisde some of the greatest names in world rugby.

Most Improved Player of the Year
Winner: Chris Czekaj
Runner Up: Rhys Thomas

After making his debut against Ulster in April 2005 Chris Czekaj played 26 times for Cardiff Blues last season in all competitions and scored 10 tries. Chris was chosen to tour with Wales this summer and earned his second cap in the first Test against Argentina.

The committee and members of CRSC would like to congratulate Xavier and Chris. Presentations will be made in the early part of next season.

Chris Stamatakis was voted the Blue & Blacks' Player of the Season.
