Regional clubs star before Welsh derby

4th January 2018

More than 200 children from 20 teams from across the region took part in Cardiff Blues' Tag Festival ahead of the New Year's Eve derby.

Regional Under-7 and 8 teams were invited to play at the iconic Arms Park ahead of the Sunday showdown from the Scarlets and played their part in a stunning day of rugby.

Teams from St Peters, Pontypridd, Merthyr and everywhere in between took part in the festival, were treated to Domino’s Pizza and then lined the pitch as their heroes ran out.

Cardiff Blues community manager Nadine Griffiths said: “It was great to see teams from far and wide descend on Cardiff Arms Park for another brilliant event.

“The children all really enjoyed themselves and the unique thing about these festivals is they are held solely at the Arms Park. They played on the famous pitch, were flag bearers for the game and then met their heroes.

“It was yet another great example of us engaging with community clubs throughout our region and the feedback has been brilliant. We’re very much looking forward to the next one.”
