Name the Flybe Tee-bird

5th September 2016

You may have seen the Flybe Tee-bird take off at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park as Cardiff Blues' Guinness PRO12 season got off to a flying start - now supporters are being given the chance to name the plane.

The remote control Flybe Tee-bird, designed and made by Wild Creations, was unveiled as Wales’ Capital Region claimed a bonus-point 34-16 victory over Edinburgh.

It received a raucous applause as it took its maiden flight across the 3G pitch to deliver the kicking tee to Steve Shingler and now Cardiff Blues fans are invited to suggest names on Twitter.

Cardiff Blues chief executive Richard Holland said: “Once again it is great to embark on yet another significant partnership, this time with such a reputable airline and our national airport.

“The Tee-bird is a great addition to the match-day experience at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and raised a big cheer from our crowd.

“Despite the poor conditions on Saturday and a little turbulence, it was a smooth take-off!

“We look forward to working with Flybe and Cardiff Airport this season, strengthening an already strong relationship.”

Supporters are asked to tweet @cardiff_blues with their suggestions using #NameThePlane and the Tee-bird will be named in time for the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park clash with Glasgow on September 16.

Debra Barber, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Cardiff Airport added: “It’s great to be continuing a corporate partnership with Cardiff Blues and to see our airlines getting involved in Welsh rugby.

“The unveiling of the new ‘Flybe Tee-bird’ is the result of the fantastic creative talents of Wild Creations as well as input from Flybe and our commercial team.

“It’s a fun, quirky and innovative way to promote the Flybe brand. We hope fans enjoy the new addition to the team this season and get involved on social media to share pictures of the plane!”

The winner of the competition will receive a pair of return flights to any destination on the Flybe network from Cardiff and a personalised Cardiff Blues jersey signed by their favourite player.
