Children from across the Cardiff Blues region took part in a hugely successful skills masterclass ahead of Sunday's European Challenge Cup triumph over Toulouse.
Almost 150 children descended on the Arms Park for the session, which was led by Cardiff Blues community coaches with the help of all of the region’s non-playing players.
Sam Warburton, Corey Domachowski, James Down and Dan Fish were among the 16 players in attendance and passed on their knowledge on eight stations covering kicking, passing, speed and agility, and tackle jackal.
Cardiff Blues community manager Nadine Griffiths said: “The masterclass proved another great success and we were really pleased with the number of children in attendance.
“It’s essential that we engage with young players as much as possible. They are the future for the region, whether playing for Cardiff Blues, a club or supporting on the terrace.
“The children all had a brilliant time and the opportunity to receive some coaching and tips of the trade from someone like Sam Warburton on the Arms Park made it a truly memorable occasion for all in attendance.
“A special mention must also go to our community coaches, who did a fantastic job, and we were all delighted that the Blues completed a superb day with the win over Toulouse.”
The masterclass followed hot on the heels of the junior tag festival that took place with more than 200 children ahead of the New Year’s Eve derby with the Scarlets.
Cardiff Blues community coaches also host half-term rugby camps and are now taking bookings for February, with both mixed and all-girl options.
The camps cater for 6 -14 year olds and are being run during school holiday periods. Camps run over three days from 9.00am - 4.00pm each day. Each day will be different with a variety of skills, drills and fun games being played.
