Following Wales' Grand Slam win in this year's RBS 6 Nations, Welsh flanker Martyn Williams has today been announced as the RBS Player of the Championship.

The award has been voted for by BBC Sport website users with over 23,000 fans voting during the final week of the RBS 6 Nations. Martyn Williams received 7,796 votes with Brian O'Driscoll in second place (2,466) and Shane Williams in third (2,066).

Martyn Williams, RBS Player of the Championship said: "It's a great honour to be named RBS Player of the Championship especially as this is voted for by rugby fans. This award caps a tremendous RBS 6 Nations for Wales and is as much a vote for my teammates as for me."
