Mabley double as Cardiff Under-18s win

28th January 2016

Prop Tom Mabley grabbed a try-double as Cardiff Blues Under-18s continued their fine run of form in Regional Age Grade Championship with a 23-7 victory over Newport Gwent Dragons Under-18s at Ystrad Mynach on Wednesday evening.

The game was rearranged after heavy rain made the pitch unplayable on Tuesday night, and it was Cardiff Blues who took the honours with all the points coming in the first half.

Mabley opened the scoring on nine minutes before a penalty from Ben Jones extended the lead at the mid-point of the first half.

Flanker Jim Botham celebrated a call-up into the team with a score just after the half hour before the home side hit back with wing Joe Goodchild going over the whitewash and Louis O’Brien converted.

Fly half Jones extended the Cardiff Blues lead before Mabley grabbed his second of the game on the stroke of half-time to wrap up the win, with no points scored in the second period
