Ellis Jenkins continued his road to recovery by visiting world renowned specialist in sports reconditioning and performance training, Bill Knowles, in Philadelphia last week.

The Cardiff Blues captain is recovering from a knee injury suffered in November 2018, and made the trip to Pennsylvania accompanied by Cardiff Blues Senior Physiotherapist, Gruff Parsons.

Knowles' previous clients includes the likes of Andy Murray, Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, Alex Rodriguez, Frank Lampard and Jonny Wilkinson.

Cardiff Blues’ Head of Medical Services, Dan Jones, said: “With the support of the Welsh Rugby Union, we saw it as a timely opportunity to send Ellis out to the US to work with Bill Knowles to facilitate the later stages of the rehabilitation process.

“He’s a world renowned knee specialist with a strong reputation, so being able to send Cardiff Blues Physiotherapist Gruff Parsons alongside Ellis was really important for the process as well.

“As we’ve stated previously, Ellis is continuing through the rehabilitation process, with a long-term approach being taken. Our priority is his long-term fitness, welfare and making sure he returns to play in optimal condition.”

Knowles, who began his career in 1989, has 30 years of experience of working in professional, Olympic and elite junior level of sport and has worked with some of the biggest athletes, clubs and organisations from the sporting industry.

Also part of the team at Knowles Athletic is Matt Siniscalchi, a strength and conditioning specialist who has experience of working for MLS outfit, Philadelphia Union.

Welsh international, Jenkins, added: “It was a really good experience, with some unorthodox training sessions, but I very much enjoyed working with Bill.

“It’s also good to have a little bit of a change of scene sometimes and I’d like to thank Bill and his team for their time and effort with me.”
