Four try tally for Wales and Lions on the same day for Blues brothers

7th June 2005

Cardiff Blues coach Dai Young has applauded try-scoring heroes Craig Morgan, Nicky Robinson, Rhys Williams and Tom Shanklin for their contribution to Wales and the Lions at the weekend.

Morgan, Robinson and Williams all crossed for Wales in their scorching 77-3 win over the USA Eagles.

And Tom Shanklin scored a difficult corner try from the wing in the Lions crucial tour match against Bay of Plenty, which also featured Blues team mates Gethin Jenkins and Martyn Williams.

"Six Blues players starred for Wales and Lions on one day, which must be something of a record," said Young.

"Four of them also scored tries in the two separate matches, which is a feat we can all be proud of."

He added: "I am sure the Blues will play an equally prominent part when Wales face Canada next weekend, and hopefully Tom, Gethin and Martyn are competing strongly for places in the first Lions test."
