Contrasting fortunes for international aces

23rd November 2014

The internationals from Cardiff Blues enjoyed contrasting fortunes in the autumn games this weekend - as it was double delight for Argentina but more woe for our Welsh duo.

Flanker Sam Warburton and wing Alex Cuthbert both started for Wales for the huge international at the Millennium Stadium against New Zealand.

But the star pair could do nothing to stop a late All Blacks onslaught as the world champions claimed a 34-16 win.

Cardiff Blues lock Filo Paulo was also a starter for Samoa at Twickenham against England, but it was the hosts who ran out 28-9 winners in wet conditions on Saturday evening.

However, there was joy for Blues duo Lucas Amorosino and new signing Joaquin Tuculet who featured for Argentina as France were stunned 18-13.

Recent recruit Tuculet – who will join up with his new team-mates at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park this coming week – started the game at full back while Amorosino was a second half replacement as the Pumas claimed a famous win in front of 45,000 at the Stade de France.
