Cardiff University French Society members look forward to tête à tête

20th January 2012

With Cardiff Blues taking on Racing Metro this Sunday there will be mixed loyalties for Cardiff University French Society

Matt Suter from Wrexham will firmly be in the Blues camp while Caroline from Paris will be cheering on Racing Metro.

Visiting the Cardiff City Stadium to collect their match tickets, Matt said,

“I’ve been in Cardiff for two years now and really enjoy living here. I’m from Wrexham originally and played for Rygbi Gogledd Cymru in the same team as George North, which was great.”

“We beat Blues North a few seasons ago in Aberdare but I will definitely be supporting the Blues this weekend.”

“I still play a bit in University and enjoy it.”

“Next year I’ll be spending a year abroad in Toulouse which is another great rugby city.”

“Within the society there’s healthy rivalry amongst the different rugby teams that we all support.”

“I’ve been following the Heineken Cup so really I’m really looking forward to Sunday’s match, it should be an exciting encounter.”

Caroline, who is originally from Versailles, near Paris, added,

“I’m a rugby fan because of my father and support Stade Francais, but this weekend I’ll be supporting Racing Metro.”

“Chabal and Bergamasco are great players for them and there’s fantastic spirit in French rugby.”

“The French Society is great fun and we always put on some good socials, so there will be a big group of us coming down to the match on Sunday.”

“I’ve been in Cardiff for two years and the people have been very welcoming and friendly, so I think it’s a great city.”
