Students in UWIC, Cardiff University and the University of Glamorgan can look forward to seeing top quality rugby at a bargain price at the Arms Park.

Cardiff Blues will be looking for a bumper student crowd for the big Heineken Cup fixture against French giants Biarritz Olympique on Friday 5 December, 8.00pm, with terrace tickets for students reduced to only £10, a saving of almost 40%.

The Blues are currently top of their pool having claimed maximum points from their two matches. A bonus point win against Calvisano was followed up with another impressive bonus point win against English powerhouse outfit Gloucester, in front of a record crowd of over 27,000 supporters at the Millennium Stadium.

Blues Community Rugby Manager, Richard Hodges said, “We enjoy a great relationship with all three universities in the region. The Blues squad uses training facilities at the Universities, University students work within our rugby development community scheme and some players in the squad are also studying University courses.”

Cardiff Blues and Wales star Jamie Roberts, who is studying at UWIC added, “We have a big following at the university so it would be great to see all the students coming down to watch the match. It’s a big game for us and there’s sure to be a great atmosphere at the Arms Park. It’s a nice chance for all the students who may not have experienced rugby in Cardiff to come down. It’s also close to when the students break up so should be a great social occasion for them.”

UWIC students should look out for an message on their University email with a competition to win Blues prizes for the Biarritz game, as the Blues further their partnership with the University. UWIC is set to have a strong presence at the Blues versus Biarritz game, encouraging student recruitment as the deadline for UCAS applications approaches in the New Year.
