The Blues continued their excellent work with youngsters within the region during last weeks half term break.
On Wednesday the whole squad visited University of Wales playing fields in Llanrumney to help out in the School Community rugby day for Year 7 pupils form Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan schools. And the following day the squad moved on to University of Wales playing fields in Trefforest to work with pupils from schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr and South Powys.
The success of last years Community days that were held in Merthyr and Sully was matched this year as hundreds of young supporters had the chance to be coached by the rugby stars and pick up some top tips.
Also during half term, Cardiff Councils Sport.Cardiff teamed up with the Blues and set up shop at St Fagans National History Museum to join in on their celebration theme of Welsh Cultural Week.
The Museum approached the Blues to run some fun taster sessions at the venue for children aged between 5yrs-16yrs to help celebrate Welsh Rugby being an integral part of Welsh Culture and its identity as a nation.
The unique opportunity to run sessions at the Museum served extremely popular with over 100 hundred children taking part in the bi-lingual sessions run by Future Blues Community Development Officers Liam Scott and Sion Edwards and co-ordinated by Rugby Development Officers Chris Ower and Nadine Griffiths.
Guest appearance from Cardiff Blues player Robin Sowden Taylor also proved popular as the children received signed posters and pen pics from Robin plus had the opportunity to pick up some key coaching skills from the player himself who took part in a number of the sessions!
Later in the week Gary Powell and Taufaao Filife were in Barry visiting the county library to support a Wales-wide campaign to encourage more people to use their local library.
The month-long campaign, entitled Welsh Libraries - Something to Shout About, ws set up to promote the whole range of library services on offer, from free broadband access to various clubs and classes and the lending of books, CDs and DVDs.
Sian Jones, Chief Librarian, invited the players to take a look around the library in King Square, Holton Road and meet a group of library users who were in the library during the half term school holidays. The library users asked questions about the library campaign and life as professional rugby players.
