Cardiff Blues launch new schools programme

2nd November 2017

Cardiff Blues are delighted to launch a brand new schools programme for the region's primary schools.

The bespoke programme will provide both practical and theory elements.

There will also be an opportunity to visit the iconic Cardiff Arms Park, which will include a tour of the historic ground, a session on the pitch and a Q&A session.

The practical element of the course will focus on various skills that will be relevant on both the rugby field and in day-to-day life - from fundamental movement skills to team building, and from physical literacy to rugby skills.

On the other hand, the theory side of the programme will look at elements such as literacy, maths, digital competency, health and wellbeing.

The programme is designed to align with the new curriculum of Successful Futures, while there will also be players visits to the school to support various campaigns.

Community manager, Nadine Griffiths, is delighted to be able to offer the programme to all of the region’s primary schools and is excited to kick-start a new innovative offering.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for both us and the region’s primary schools,” said Griffiths.

“One of the exciting aspects of the new programme is being able to offer the theory side alongside practical elements, while the chance for the kids to visit Cardiff Arms Park and meet Cardiff Blues stars is an added incentive.

“Following our BTEC course at three education centres, as well as our ever-growing kids camps, this is further proof of our commitment to connecting with communities across the entire region.”
