Blues look to market for reinforcements

23rd November 2013

Boss Phil Davies revealed Blues were hopeful of bringing in some new faces in the coming weeks after defeat to Munster Rugby in the RaboDirect PRO12.

Blues were without over 20 players for the clash at the Arms Park – through injury and international call-ups - and had revealed in the week that both Bradley Davies and Cory Allen had gone under the knife for shoulder surgery.

And Davies admitted the region were now closing in targets as they looked to boost the playing squad for the months ahead.

“We’re looking to bring a couple of players in on loan if we can,” said Davies.

“We’ve been busy with that over the last couple of weeks so hopefully next week we can have some good news and we can bolster the squad a little bit.

“We will also have Harry (Robinson) coming back next week which will be good for us. Hopefully we will have a few additions too.

“Alex (Cuthbert) has also recovered really well and he has done well. He is up with the national side and it is encouraging with the Heineken Cup around the corner.

“We need some cover in the back line and we need some front five cover with Bradley (Davies) and Lou (Reed) going down,” he added.

“We need some quality to put in there and that is what we have looked at. Hopefully we will get that by the middle of next week.”
