Andy Booth set for Arms Park return

14th December 2018

Andy Booth will return to Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday as St James's Place Wealth Management sponsor the crunch Heineken Champions Cup clash with Saracens.

It has been 16 years since the scrum-half pulled on the Blue and Black of Cardiff RFC but he will be back at his former stomping ground with Castle Court Wealth Management – a senior partner practice of FTSE 100 company St James’s Place.

Booth is a senior partner of the company having hung up his boots in 2002, and ventured into insurance and financial service industries.

During an illustrious career Booth represented Neath, his hometown club Swansea and won a varsity blue with Cambridge University but it was with Cardiff RFC he made his name. Booth made 117 appearances over nine seasons for the Blue and Blacks, scoring 42 tries.

Earlier this year he became a founding member of the Cardiff Blues former player association alongside Tom Shanklin and Brynmor Williams, having previously played a pivotal role in #StayStrongForOws fundraising efforts.

Booth said: “It is great to be back at Cardiff Arms Park for what is a massive game against Saracens. I spent many brilliant years here with Cardiff RFC so it is fantastic to be working with Cardiff Blues in my current role as a Partner at St James’s Place.

St James’s Place already have strong links with Wales’ Capital Region with former stars Martyn Williams and Harry Robinson among their team and a number of the current team as clients

Cardiff Blues general manager Rhys Blumberg said: “Having former players support the region through sponsorship is great to see and we are delighted to welcome St James’s Place to our Cardiff Blues family.

“It is just the latest example of a past player giving back to the region, which demonstrates and strengthens the links between Cardiff Arms Park, the region and it’s alumni.

“This will only grow stronger in the months ahead with the launch of the former players association, which we are delighted Andy is a part of, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with both Andy and St James’s Place.”
