After 72 years supporting at CAP, long-standing supporter turns 90

First Team News | 11th March 2019

Even the most loyal of supporters at Cardiff Arms Park will struggle to compete with David Harris.

It is believed that the retired Lighting Manager , who turned 90 on Thursday is our longest serving supporter having held a season ticket, for Cardiff RFC and most recently Cardiff Blues, since 1947.

During his 72 years of unwavering support at our iconic home, Mr Harris has seen the Blue & Blacks beat New Zealand, Australia on five occasions, South Africa and the Barbarians.

He has in fact seen the All Blacks defeated on four occasions – to Cardiff and Wales in 1953, Newport in 1963 and the Barbarians in 1973 when Sir Gareth Edwards scored THAT try.

While much has changed during his years of support, Mr Harris has remained committed to the cause and he was thrilled to see Cardiff Blues lift the European Challenge Cup.

All of us at Cardiff Blues, from players, staff and management, wish you a very Happy 90thBirthday and thank you for your unwavering support!
