A Day to Remember this Saturday!

31st October 2014

Cardiff Blues tackle Munster in the Guinness PRO12 at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park tomorrow (Saturday) - and it will be 'A Day to Remember' as we pay tribute to all the Armed Forces and our respects ahead of Remembrance Sunday!

November is the time of the year when we wear a red poppy in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for us during wars.

And at the home of the Blues we will paying our respects by joining forces with the Welsh Transport Regiment (WTR) for a day of remembrance.

Serving military personnel are invited to the game – with half price tickets available when they show official ID – and we are encouraging as many fans as possible to come along and support this special occasion at the home of the Blues!

On the day itself, there is a special game at 12noon as the Welsh Reserves play the RLC Saxons.

Prior to the big kick-off for the Blues game there will be a military display from the Parachute Military Band and WTR Corps of Drums before a wreath laying ceremony on the pitch and minute’s silence in memory of those that lost their lives.

The Royal British Legion will be on site selling poppies and raising funds and the WTR will have a number of displays and recruitment activities around BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

All the players for Cardiff Blues will also be wearing a poppy logo on their jersey as a mark of respect ahead of Remembrance Sunday and our match day programme will also carry a poppy on the front cover.

We will also have a special half-time mascot race, that will feature Bruiser the Bear and the Help 4 Heroes mascot.

The game marks the one year anniversary of Cardiff Blues signing of the Corporate Covenant. Blues became one of the first rugby club's in the UK to sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in 2013. The covenant is a written and publicised voluntary pledge from ourselves to demonstrate our concrete support for the armed forces and how we recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our region.
