Ellis Jenkins praised Cardiff Blues' grit and determination, as Wales' Capital Region secured a bonus-point victory over Benetton Rugby on Friday.
The Welsh international flanker crossed for a vital second half try - his third in eight games this season - as Danny Wilson's side extended their winning streak to four games in the Guinness PRO14.
Following a succession of injuries, the back row was forced to move to scrum half for the final 20 minutes, and the back row, who made his NatWest 6 Nations debut for Wales against Italy this season, was more than happy to put his hands up to help his side.
Jenkins said: “It’s good that we’re showing the grit to get there.
“You take five points and an average performance rather than a loss with a pretty game.
“If you want to achieve anything in this league you’ve got to be looking to record five points and we’ve done that, so we’ll take the five points and move on.
“Tomos was pretty annoyed to be taken off early [with concussion] but obviously you’ve got to go with what the doctors say.
“I played nine for the school but it’s been a while. It’s just somewhere I thought I could step in and do alright."
Cardiff Blues’ attention now turns to Saturday’s encounter against Ulster Rugby, as they look to continue their winning-ways at the Arms Park.
Flanker Jenkins believes a win against Ulster will be crucial to maintaining the Blues’ momentum ahead of their quarter final against Edinburgh the following week, but insists doing so will be no mean feat.
The Welsh international said: “They’ve probably not been playing as well as they’d have like to have been playing but Ulster are a quality team.
“They’ll have boys back from Ireland as well so they’ll be raring to go, and we’ve got to lick our wounds a bit from today and get back to where we have been the last couple of games because we’ve played some really good stuff.
“The performance is probably big next week now. We need to get back from today to where we were against Munster and the Cheetahs.
“Edinburgh is knock out rugby, anything can happen there, we saw that with the Scarlets when they got to the play offs last year, they turned it on for two games and no one could live with them.”
