Davies determined to keep learning

3rd February 2018

After impressing in defeat to London Irish, Seb Davies is eager to continue on a steep learning curve when he returns to Wales' NatWest 6Nations camp.

The powerful forward had not played since Boxing Day due to flu and was then called into Warren Gatland’s Championship squad.

He was released to Cardiff Blues for the weekend and started at the less familiar position of number eight.

And while the Blues fell to a 42-21 defeat to a full-strength London Irish, he was one of several players to impress, grabbing a fine try in the process.

Davies said: “It’s nice to get your hands on the ball a bit more. It obviously suits the way I play.

“I’ve been out since Boxing Day so it’s nice to get out and have a run around. There were a few new faces on the field as well so it was good to get on alongside them.

“On the whole the boys showed a good effort. It was back and fore with the points, they scored one, then we scored one but a couple of sloppy errors in defence, a couple of soft one-on-ones hurt us.

“But there were positives as well and quite a few of our defensive sets were good and we knocked them back but we have to stick in there for the whole 80 minutes.

“It was a good experience for everyone, playing a Premiership team. They are at the bottom but they’re still competing very well, they have a few All Blacks in their team so it was good for the youngsters boys especially to get out there and put the jersey on.”

Davies will now rest up over the weekend before linking back up with Wales following their opening clash with Scotland.

He continued: “It’s going well. It’s been quite tough but I’m enjoying it. That’s what it’s all about in whatever you do and in any walk of life, gaining that experience and developing yourself as a player so I’m enjoying learning all these things.”
