Cardiff Blues make three changes for Zebre

27th April 2017

Danny Wilson has made three changes for Cardiff Blues' final home game of the Guinness PRO12 season, against Zebre on Friday night (7.05pm).

Following an emphatic 35-17 victory over the Ospreys at the Principality Stadium on Judgement Day, the Blues return to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park determined to carry momentum into the play-offs.

They are already guaranteed a play-off spot for the final qualifying position in the European Champions Cup but Wilson is determined to finish as high as possible.

Wilson said: “We’re in that play-off situation, we currently sit seventh and our goal has to be finishing seventh.

“We have two fixtures remaining and are currently one point above Connacht. Whoever we then play, we play. It leans towards going to France, which will be another huge challenge but one we will relish and look forward to.

“But for me it is about winning every game you are confronted with. We have Zebre in our last game at home, which we need and want to win, and then Dragons away in a derby, which we certainly want to win.

“We finished seventh last year but couldn’t get out of our European group, if we finish seventh this year having reached a European quarter-final, we have picked up more wins and are slowly moving in the direction we need to be.”

Aled Summerhill comes onto the wing, with Rhun Williams moving to full-back in the place of Matthew Morgan, while Tomos Williams gets the nod at scrum-half ahead of namesake Lloyd.

Up front, Rhys Gill starts at loose-head prop with Gethin Jenkins unavailable due to miner knee stiffness.

Cardiff Blues: Rhun Williams; Alex Cuthbert, Rey Lee-Lo, Willis Halaholo, Aled Summerhill; Gareth Anscombe, Tomos Williams; Rhys Gill, Kristian Dacey, Taufa’ao Filise, Jarrad Hoeata, Macauley Cook, Josh Navidi, Ellis Jenkins (capt), Nick Williams.

Replacements: Kirby Myhill, Corey Domachowski, Scott Andrews, James Down, Sion Bennett, Lloyd Williams, Steve Shingler, Matthew Morgan.
