Cardiff Blues contingent impress in Wales Under-20s win

11th March 2017

Wales Under-20s fought to an emphatic 41-27 bonus-point win over Ireland - with nine Cardiff Blues in the starting line-up.

Jason Strange’s young guns led 24-13 at the interval following an enthralling 40 minutes of attacking rugby.

Ben Jones opened the scoring with a well-struck penalty and he was instrumental as fellow Cardiff Blues Corrie Tarrant claimed the first try.

Regional teammate Dane Blacker was next to cross the whitewash and Keiran Williams touched down on the stroke of half-time.

Ireland fought back in the second-half, keeping possession close to the fringes. Joey Conway and Oisin Dowling both powered over from close-range with Bill Johnston converting both to draw level.

However Ospreys centre Williams, who was named man-of-the-match, crossed for his second try to secure the win before Chris Coleman put the result beyond doubt.
