Wilson sets sights on European clash

6th March 2017

Danny Wilson insists Cardiff Blues still have plenty to play for this season - most notably a European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Gloucester.

A late loss to Munster at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday put a major dent in the Blues hopes of finishing in the top half of the Guinness PRO12.

But Wilson insists his side will fight to the bitter end in the PRO12 while their quarter-final against the Cherry & Whites now takes on a greater significance.

Wilson said: “We now go to a quarter-final in Europe in a month’s time which becomes a big, big game for us.

“It’s an achievement in itself that we got out of the group to reach a quarter-final and now we really want to have a crack at seeing if we can get to a semi.

“When I look at the season as a whole, we’ve lost a couple of games at home which we won last year and we’ve picked up some wins on the road where we struggled last year, we’ve also improved in Europe.

“There’s been some ups, some improvements but there’s also been some downs with some losses at home which have cost us in terms of league position.”

Tickets for the European Challenge Cup quarter-final between Gloucester Rugby and Cardiff Blues on Saturday, April 1, are on sale now. Cardiff Blues have an allocation of tickets for the Kingsholm clash are available now by clicking here or calling 029 20 302030.
