USA Eagles call-ups for Scully and Dolan

2nd November 2016

Cardiff Blues wing Blaine Scully and forward Cam Dolan have been named in the USA Eagles squad for the November tests.

Scully, who has been in fine form for Cardiff Blues season, scoring three tries and cementing his reputation as a fan favourite at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, continues his role as co-captain, alongside flanker Todd Clever.

Scully and Dolan will join up with the squad in time for their match against Romania, in Bucharest, on Saturday, November 12, before facing Tonga in Spain on Saturday, November 19.

Scully has won 31 caps for The Eagles since his debut in 2011, representing the team in two Rugby World Cups. Dolan has represented the team on 22 occasions, and was named USA’s Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2013.

Earlier this week, Scully also announced the formation of the United States Rugby Players Association (USRPA), and is one of the major drivers of the project. The Sacramento-born wing believes the USRPA is vital as rugby continues to grow in the USA.

“It is important for the success of the game in the United States that the elite players have a collective voice,” said Scully.

“The relationship between USAR and the USRPA is fundamentally founded on a strong sense of partnership and shared purpose.

“Both parties are committed to dialogue and collaboration which will allow the players to have input in key issues, but also take ownership in the development of the game.”
