Sketching the seasons at Cardiff Blues

15th April 2016

For the past two seasons you may have noticed an artist in the crowd and drawings appearing on twitter and TV. These collections of drawings were all produced from life, on the spot without the use of a camera in order to capture the vibrancy, emotion and atmosphere of the moment.

The sketches are a fly on the wall record of the last two seasons at Cardiff Blues and a result of a collaboration between talented local artist Jonathan Williams and the region.

The aim was create a spontaneous impression of the sights and sounds that surrounds match day, from the players to the coaching staff, supporters, grounds staff, stewards, and the many others that combine to create an exciting environment.

Jonathan is an award winning Cardiff based artist and illustrator who has previously worked in design and publishing studios in London and Barcelona and illustrated over 30 books in the UK and Europe.

Jonathan – who recently produced drawings for the S4C coverage of the Six Nations – has an exhibition on Sunday in the Jack Matthews Supporters Bar where he is available to talk about his work.

All prints of the artwork are also for sale - with a donation going to #StayStrongForOws - and commissions taken.
