No place like home for boss Wilson

16th March 2016

Head Coach Danny Wilson admits he is looking forward to returning to home soil this Friday night - and urged his Cardiff Blues to produce against a 'powerful' Munster outfit.

Cardiff Blues are in Guinness PRO12 action as they face the Irish province at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park (kick-off 7.15pm).

With two league games in two weeks, Wilson acknowledges it is crunch time for his team as they look to mount a late season charge up the table.

But he insists the team have had a real edge this week as preparations have stepped up and even included a hit out against Wales.

“We’ve had a good week of preparation, including a session with Wales, and there has been a real edge to the way we have trained after a week without a game. Hopefully we are in a good place to produce the performance we need under the lights,” he said.

“We beat a full-loaded Ulster Rugby side in our last game at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and while our away form has been indifferent we have been consistent and played well at home.

“Our home form has been important this year and when I arrived in this role I made it an aim to ensure we had a home record and venue that we could be proud of.

“We are slowly getting there and piecing performances together at home, but by no means are we where we want to be yet.

“We need more consistency and to make it hard for any side to come to the Arms Park and win.”
