Boss admits Lee-Lo was Rey-zor sharp

28th February 2016

Head Coach Danny Wilson admitted man-of-the-match Rey Lee-Lo had been hard to handle as the Samoa star helped inspire a 23-13 win over Ulster Rugby in the Guinness PRO12.

Free-running Lee-Lo lit up BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park with his stunning late break the catalyst for Rhys Patchell to score and help Cardiff Blues take back the lead on 74 minutes.

And Wilson was delighted to see his centre prove to be such a thorn in the side of the Irish side.

“Rey’s footwork is excellent and on our surface he is difficult to deal with,” said Wilson. “He has the ability to beat people one-on-one and stay on his feet. He was very good today.

“Rhys Patchell has also been great for us, at both ten and 15, and when you move him back to full back in a game when people are tired he causes major problems."

Looking ahead to next weekend’s trip to Glasgow Warriors, Wilson insists his team must aiming high adding: “Our ambition remains to try and get into the top six if that remains realistic.

“I still feel that is possible. We are only five points off Ospreys and if we can get some results, get something next week in Glasgow, we can climb.

“We have a large number of games here left and if we can get points then who knows? We aren’t getting ahead of ourselves, it’s important we keep improving and that is what we are doing at the moment."
