Wilson: Let's crank up the volume for derby

29th December 2015

Head Coach Danny Wilson has called on the Arms Park faithful to crank up the volume and make a special derby day atmosphere when Scarlets arrive on New Year's Day.

Cardiff Blues will launch 2016 with the visit of the Scarlets for a highly-anticipated Guinness PRO12 clash that has already seen the phones ringing fast at the Ticket Office at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

Wilson has been thrilled by the level of support his team have enjoyed on home soil this season.

And with the biggest crowd the season set to descend on the Welsh capital to welcome in the New Year, he has called on supporters to raise the roof and make home advantage count.

“The passionate crowd here has impressed me and we just need to keep building that,” he said.

“We want to make this a venue that is difficult to visit and win. We’ve only lost one in the league this season, to the reigning champions, but it will be tough against Scarlets.

“I’m hoping we will see a packed crowd full of supporters to provide the kind of atmosphere we saw at Dragons.

“In my opinion, the only way you increase bums on seats is to win games of rugby,” he added.

“We have won three of our last four games, won our last two home games, and the game we lost was to the last kick of the game out in France.

“Hopefully more people will add to the faithful we have here and it’s been great to see the big crowds at the Scarlets and Dragons for regional derby games.

“To see a packed house here and at the Ospreys would fantastic - it’s what we want every week.

“We have got to produce the results and performances that will lead to people wanting to come and watch.

“Certainly our performances have definitely improved over the last four or five weeks and so have results.”
