Dolan looks forward to Blues move

24th June 2015

New signing Cam Dolan is relishing his summer switch to Wales and Cardiff Blues - after first grasping his big chance to feature at the Rugby World Cup.

Talented international forward Dolan will move to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park later this year after completing a spell at Northampton Saints.

The United States of America international – who can play lock or in the back row – will join countryman Blaine Scully at Blues and is excited about the new opportunity ahead of him.

“My time at Northampton was a great experience and I learned how to be a professional rugby player alongside some of the best pros and coaches in the world,” said the 25-year-old.

“To have the opportunity to bring my passion for the game to a club with the history of Cardiff in a country that possesses the very same passion for rugby is truly an honour.

“A former coach and USA icon, Dave Hodges, always spoke extremely fondly of the Welsh people and the time he spent with Llanelli Scarlets. I'm very much looking forward to a very similar opportunity with Cardiff Blues.”

Dolan has made 10 appearances for the USA Eagles and the Florida-born forward is hoping to add to that on the biggest stage of them all after recently being named in a 50-man training squad for the Rugby World Cup.

“It is the greatest honour you can have in this sport,” added Dolan, who made his first start for the senior USA team in the 2013 IRB Pacific Nations Cup match against Fiji.

“To be playing on the world’s biggest stage, with and against the greatest athletes this sport has to offer, would be a dream come true.”
