Thousands enjoy Blues Tag Rugby Festival

19th May 2015

First team stars Cory Allen, Ellis Jenkins, Adam Jones and Kristian Dacey were among the special guests as Cardiff Blues held the Sphere Solutions Blues Tag Rugby Festival at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

The annual rugby festival hosted by the region, and delivered in association with Official Community partners Sphere Solutions, saw over 2,000 aspiring young rugby players from 153 schools and teams right across the region descend on the home of Cardiff Blues.

The children aged between eight and 11-years-old got to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and enjoy a festival of rugby on the pitch over three days.

Every day the stars from the region also arrived in the afternoon to present certificates and trophies and meet the youngsters.

The event was also supported on two days by volunteers from Geldards LLP, HLN Architects and Principality Building Society as part of Give & Gain Day 2015.

Nadine Griffiths, Community Manager at Cardiff Blues, said: "The festival was a huge success and it was absolutely fantastic to see so many young aspiring rugby players from right across our region get to play at our home.

"It’s wonderful to bring our community together for an event of his magnitude and scale and a huge thank you goes to all those that took part, to our Official Community partners Sphere Solutions and those that gave up their time to support it as part of Give & Gain Day 2015.”
