Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales welcomed a squad of special visitors yesterday (December 16) when the Cardiff Blues called in to spread some Christmas cheer.
Eighteen of the regional rugby stars spent the evening signing posters and meeting young patients on the children’s wards at University Hospital of Wales.
The visits have become an annual event in the Blues calendar and something that all the players look forward to. One young supporter was delighted to meet some of the players but in particularly Sam Warburton.
Libby Fussell, who is 12 and from Newport said, “I was so excited to see the team and especially meeting Sam Warburton. It was really nice to chat with the team and meet some of the players I’ve seen on the TV."
Sam Warburton and Rhys Patchell entertained the ward with a rousing rendition of Santa Claus is coming to town with Sam singing and Rhys playing the guitar. Nurses on the ward joined in and the festive choir put a smile on everyone’s faces.
Sam Warburton, Cardiff Blues player has been visiting the Children’s Hospital for Wales at Christmas for the past seven years said, “I really enjoy coming to the Children’s hospital at Christmas time. It’s great to see the smiles on the children’s faces as we walk around the ward. It was lovely to spend some time chatting with the patients.”
