Blues crowned Welsh kings of Premiership 7s

Cardiff Blues shone in the evening sunshine on home soil as they stormed into the finals of the Premiership 7s Series by being crowned Welsh champions!

The BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park was the venue for the first-ever Welsh stage of the 7s competition now in its fifth season.
 
And the iconic home of the Blues was treated to a carnival of fast-flowing and exciting 7s rugby with six derby clashes between the regions unfolding on the night in front of a crowd of 3,385.
 
Blues opened up with a thrilling comeback 33-21 bonus point win over the Ospreys with tries from Tomos Williams, Owen Jenkins, Dan Fish, Aled Summerhill and Ellis Wyn Benham.
 
A convincing second match saw Blues ease to a 22-7 win with scores from Dan Fish, Tom Williams, Ben Roach and Richard Smith to ensure a place in the finals.
 
The final match of the night saw Blues tackle Dragons for the glory of top spot and a tense and dramatic finale saw the home side score two tries in the final 90 seconds – including a penalty try with time up – to snatch a 19-19 draw and the crown.
 
Cardiff Blues and Newport Gwent Dragons now qualify for the Series Final at the Twickenham Stoop on Friday, August 8.
