Account Manager Richard Hyett and his team at Cardiff based web agency Sequence were pleased to deliver the final piece in jigsaw for the development of cardiffblues.com for this season.
As well as the syndicated news feed from BBC, cardiffblues.com users can now access official ERC news as it is published direct through the central navigation, thanks to a shared content initiative.
Richard, a life long follower of rugby in Cardiff, commented, I hope the supporters will find this new development a useful addition to the range of content already provided on the official Cardiff Blues website. I know I always check in to get the team news on the official site first.
Cardiff Blues Commercial Manager Tina Tew is delighted with the new development and feels that it offers our supporters yet another great feature on the already comprehensive website. The integrated ERC news feature completes the content delivery for Blues supporters through our official website. In line with the website strategy, a full compliment of news stories is now available for fans.
We are pleased to be the first rugby team, certainly in Wales, to offer news stories delivered on a European level through the ERC feature, on a national and international level through the BBC news feed and on the Blues through our media department publishing stories in-house.
We caught up with Richard Hyett during the week and asked him about some of his Arms Park memories.
What was the first ever rugby game you watched?
Cardiff v Pontypridd on Boxing Day, a long time ago!!!
Who is your favourite all time player?
Without a doubt, Rob Howley is my favourite player. During the time he spent at Cardiff he played some of the best rugby of his career.
Who is your favourite current Cardiff Blues player?
The Blues have got some great players in the squad at the moment but for me Dan Baugh is superb.
What is the best try you have ever seen?
I think I speak for most Welshmen when I say this, Scott Gibbs last minute try when Wales played England at Wembley, 1999!
What is the most memorable match that you have seen?
Cardiff Harlequins (Cardiff High School Old Boys) v Pontypridd in the Quarter Finals of the 1991/1992 Schweppes Cup. Unfortunately CHSOB lost by 35 15 at Sardis Road but it was one of the biggest games in the clubs history.
From the current crop of youngsters in the Blues squad at the moment who do you think is the one to watch for the future?
There are plenty of players with an abundance of talent but I think Lee Thomas is definitely a star of the future.
