Cardiff Blues welcome Northampton Saints in the return leg of the Heineken Cup fixture this Sunday 3pm kick off.

The Blues missed out on a losing bonus point by one score in last Saturday’s match and know it’s a must win game for them if they are to progress in the competition. Speaking ahead of the game Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby David Young said,

“In last weekend’s encounter I think our set piece came second place by a large margin and we didn’t have anything to play with.”

“We were playing off scraps but when we did have some ball, we caused Northampton a lot of problems.”

“If we can sort out our set piece and play in the right areas we can expect a much improved display.”

“Our scrum and lineout needs to be a lot better as we know that’s a big part of their game.”

“I’m expecting pretty much the same type of game plan from them this weekend - put us back in our own half, challenge our lineout and try to cause us problems at scrum time.”

“We have to win. If we don’t, we’re out of the competition, but also we have to make sure that Northampton leave with nothing.”

Cardiff Blues v Northampton Saints will be the last match at the Cardiff City Stadium before Christmas and family tickets are available priced at £20 for two adults and two children. Anyone purchasing a ticket will also get a £5 off voucher to purchase a Cardiff Blues shirt.

The Supporters Quarter is sure to be busy with Ysgol Pencae junior school and the Blues choir getting in to the festive spirit and performing Christmas carols. Father Christmas and his elf will be giving away presents to juniord and there will also be free face painting.
