To celebrate Cardiff Blues taking on Italian side Aironi Rugby on Friday 7 January, 7.30pm kick off, the Blues have teamed up with one of the finest restaurants in Cardiff, Jamie's Italian, to offer one lucky supporter the chance to win a meal for two at the restaurant, which will be served by Cardiff Blues stars.

The Blues are currently third place in the Magners League and have some big games over the festive period, playing Newport Gwent Dragons away and then taking on Ospreys on New Year’s Eve at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The first match of 2011 will see them take on Magners League newcomers Aironi, who are coached by former Wales international, Rowland Phillips. Aironi Rugby is based just outside Parma, which is regarded as the food capital of Italy. The best raw ham in the world is cured there and Parmesan, the most exclusive refined cheese, is also produced there.

Blues supporters can taste for themselves some delicious Italian dishes, made with fresh ingredients at Jamie’s Italian. The restaurant aims to re-create what Italians are most proud of - fantastic, rustic dishes, using recipes that have been tried, tested and loved! Jamie’s Italian also aims to be accessible and affordable, a place where anyone is welcome and everyone will feel comfortable, no matter how much they spend or how long they stay.

On a recent visit to the restaurant, Cardiff Blues scrum half Richie Rees said,

“Jamie’s Italian is a popular venue for a lot of the players to eat, whether we are going out as a team or taking our girlfriends out for a meal.”

“The food is superb and service is fantastic. They always make you feel welcome, whether it’s just a few of you eating there at lunchtime or a big party.”

“I think it’s a great prize for supporters to win a meal there and the players are certainly looking forward to helping out in the restaurant.”

“It’s a big game for us against Aironi on the 7th, I’ve never played against them before, so I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully we can start 2011 with a win.”

Tickets for the Cardiff Blues v Arioni rugby match to be played on Friday 7 January, 7.30pm kick off, are currently on sale.
