Have you received a gift this Christmas that you think somebody else would appreciate more than you?
Following a fantastic response to the Red Dragon FM Christmas Toy Appeal, the radio stations official charity, Help A South Wales Child, has now teamed up with Cardiff Blues and EADS to make the New Year a bit brighter for disadvantaged children from all over South Wales.
In response to the Toy Appeal Red Dragon FM thousands of toys were donated to the charity and distributed to children before Christmas. Cardiff Blues players were on hand to deliver the gifts to the Childrens Ward at Prince Charles Hospital, in Merthyr, as well as visiting the childrens hospital at UHW and the childrens unit at the Royal Glamorgan. Due to the fantastic response, the appeal has now been extended, with more children set to receive unneeded Christmas toys and benefit from the publics kind generosity.
Red Dragon FM radio station and the Cardiff Blues shop will be available as drop-off points for people wishing to giveaway a gift after Christmas Day, this could be a spare toy, an unwanted gift or just something you would rather give to someone less fortunate than you.
Furry mascots and the Red Dragon Thunders will be encouraging supporters at the sell-out Cardiff Blues v Ospreys fixture on New Years Eve to donate a gift to support the appeal. The task of collecting and distributing any donated toys and gifts will continue for the first weeks of January with the Red Dragon Thunders, volunteers from Help A South Wales Child, staff from EADS and Cardiff Blues players teaming together to pack up all the gifts ready for distribution.
Throughout the rest of the year, Help A South Wales Child supports a range of childrens organisations and charities with the donation of grants. The monies typically go to groups that work with children who may be sufferning from the effects of abuse, illness, poverty, disability or homelessness.
Gift donations can be delivered to the drop off points in the Red Dragon reception, at the radio station in Cardiff Bay or to the Cardiff Blues shop, in the city centre until Thursday January 15th.
EADS Defence & Security will be collecting donations from staff and seeking support from other businesses in the area. So, please help to put a smile on a disadvantaged childs face in 2009 with Red Dragons Help A South Wales Child, the Cardiff Blues and EADS.
