Powys Junior Rugby Festival

9th November 2006

Local Schools: Dolau, Irfon Valley, Builth Wells, Ysgol Dolafon and Trefonnen took part in this year’s Gerald Morris Memorial Shield tournament.

A great day’s tag rugby was enjoyed by the youngsters, with many boys and girls playing for the first time. The children had an hour or so of coaching from two of the Blues Community coaches and coaches from Builth Wells RFC junior section. The weather held out for a wonderful day's tag rugby with Builth Wells Primary School just winning the round robin tournament.

Gerald Morris was a stalwart at Builth RFC, and was amongst a group of local enthusiasts who worked hard for many years to put the club on the map. As a resident of Builth, Gerald was always fiercely proud of the town and its achievements on the sporting front.

The Gerald Morris Memorial Shield was presented by his son Philip Morris.
