Blues Under 18s Take on Ospreys

26th September 2006

The Blues under 18s will be hoping to down the Ospreys tonight (Weds 27th September) when the two sides meet in the WRU Regional Championship game at St Helens.

Victory for the Ospreys will see them consolidate their lead at the top of the table, whilst a win for the Blues, who opened their campaign with a draw against the Scarlets, could see them leapfrog last season's champions.

Try scorers from last week Ryan Bayliss, Ashley Beck and Rory Pitman are all included in the Ospreys' side whilst for the Blues, who shared 52 points with the Scarlets at Leckwith Stadium two weeks ago, Luke Fear and Phil Williams are once again side by side in the centre.

Blues' high performance manager Gafyn Cooper said, "I think the boys were disappointed to have dropped valuable points against the Scarlets two weeks ago, but to be fair it was a game that bneither side deserved to lose.

"Hopefully we can continue in the same vein and add a win to the draw. Obviously, St Helens is never the most easy of venues to visit, but we go down there with condidence."

The Scarlets entertain the Dragons at Stradey Park hoping to emulate the success of their under 16s who defeated the Ospreys at the same venue seven days ago.

The Blues team to play Ospreys is:

Team: Ceri Llewelyn, Owen Morgan, Luke Fear, Phil Williams, Joe Xiberas, Joe Deacon, Rhys Downes, Tom Price, Rhys Williams, Scott Andrews, Dan Partridge, Gareth Capelin, Kristian Dacey, Jake Thomas, Lewis Mills

Replacements: Matthew Howells, Ben Lee, Marcus Lewis, Adam Toomey, Sam Studley, Lloyd Williams, Harry Allen, James Loxton

The Blues South Under 16s away fixture against Ospreys has been confirmed as Wednesday 1st November kick off 2.30pm at Llandarcy Academy for Sport (BP) to avoid any clash with the Ospreys fixture against Australia.
