Darren Crompton joined Cardiff Blues from Bristol Shoguns in June 2003. His previous clubs included Bath and Richmond. He had gained regular representative selections throughout his age-group rugby, captaining England at both under-18 and under-21 levels and also playing for England Students. After winning further honours with England A, Darren was elevated to the England senior squad that went on the tour of hell in the Southern Hemisphere in 1998. He played against New Zealand A, New Zealand Academy and the Maori without winning a full test cap.
